So I've been away from paddling for some time and thanks to Ken hooking me up with an Astro I can now get back into the swing of things... Problem is my roll stinks; went to Secord today and didn't exactly finish up on a positive note.
I've done some clinics at Wilderness and MKC over the years and although I can roll 60% of the time on the flats, in current it plain sux.. the fundamentals never stuck in my brain I guess. Is there anybody out there who'd mind spending an hour or so with me to help fine tune whatever it is that's missing? Maybe it's the new boat, maybe it's cause I've been away, maybe it's because I drive a minivan, maybe it's because I'm just one of those guys who just needs an ass kicking.. Regardless, looking for a bit of coaching.
if anybody's looking for something to do tomorrow morning....I'm in! txt 705-562-0238 Aaron

Sweep front to rear, do not try to pull down you have to sweep Pretend you are sighting a gun while looking at the paddle during the sweep. Lock your ear to shoulder of pulling arm side. This should prevent you from raising your head up, raising the head early is enough to sink you!
Do all of the above together, forever and you will be fine.

Make sure you are tight in the boat. If you can sit in it for 30 min without hurting its too loose. Rolling in current can be easier or harder. The water helps and hinders. Its just a mental thing if you can roll in flat water and can't in current.
