Hey Kev,
is that a recent pic (like in the past couple days)? Looks like a nice wave.

Yeah I took it today. The picture is a bit deceiving though...the wave is actually 5-6ft high tip to trough.

Most impotantly did you suit up and paddle or just pretend to be Gery and look at it.
BTW as Gerry asked did you look at the two beauties upstream???
If anyone has time we should try to find any/all rapids below the Chaudire dams

No I never paddled it. I was all alone and I don't think that you could surf it without smashing your head on the bridge. I think it moved ahead from when you and Joe where there and its now directly under the last pillar of the bridge and there's maybe 1-2ft of clearance...maybe a midget could surf it? The pourover on the left and the hole on the right down below looked kind of nasty too but I don't think you would drown in either. Maybe when the water gets lower it will get better. The top two waves didn't look all that great either. The first one was flushing towards the middle and the second one looked pretty flat...I was up on the cliff looking down at them though. Too bad they didn't build that bridge a bit higher up. I think that is the lower set of the Chaudiere rapids. I believe if you keep driving up the road there is the upper set of rapids just below Chaudiere dam. This is Restoule river somewhere in Dokis...maybe there's a playspot here in the spring? There are lots of rapids on the south side of eighteen mile island and there's a bunch near Georgian Bay (I bought the map). I read on the internet that they're supposed to get really big in high water. I've seen a few pictures and I can see the potential...something to look forward to in the spring.
