Hi guys, I just did my first white water kayaking last weekend in the Gull River in a one day lesson. I spent a good chunk of that time upside down waiting for the hand of god to pull me back upright. I bought a Jackson Super Fun last night. I'm going to practice my rolling and paddling in some flat water but would eventually like to ride some white water in the Sudbury area. From previous posts, it looks like the French River will be the best white water around for me to eventually learn on. Does this group have any set times they go out and willing to make sure I don't bash my head in trying paddle in the wrong rapids?
Thanks,
Jesse

Welcome, Keep practicing and yes someone will take you out. French is good for beginners right now, but don't forget Stinson... throw up your number in case someone reads this. mine is 665-2999

Stinson should be in with this rain. Someone is probably paddling it this weekend. Closer to Sudbury too.

Thanks guys, I don't think I'm ready to hit the river this weekend. I'm finally getting into the pool today to practice my rolling. My number is 416-970-2420 for future rides though.

Stinson is small and super safe. Its a small hole at the top of a small box canyon that is 70 ft long that opens into a bay. Probably the best place to learn. It was running this afternoon. Pat went this evening and it was shutdown. It was running around 20.

Is there anything online to find out what Stinson is running at prior to going out there? Is there a minimum water level that's safe on Stinson? A coworker, that I'm trying to convince to join the sport, likes to white water canoe. Is Stinson good for canoes?
